Explore Cow Common, conservation land owned by the Town of Wayland, with its extensive open meadows, lowland forests dominated by red maple, and stretches of floodplain habitats on the banks of the Sudbury River. Our walks will explore the flora and fauna of this scenic landscape as winter transitions to spring.
Traverse Memorial Forest, a property of the Sudbury Valley Trustees and the Town of Marlborough, with hundreds of acres of pine and oak forests, a unique stand of pitch pines on very dry soil, and a variety of wetland habitats. Our walks will explore signs of early spring on this expansive and ecologically diverse natural landscape.
Ted Elliman is a botanist who worked for many years for Native Plant Trust. Ted teaches botany and ecology classes for a number of botanical gardens and conservation groups.
