Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music: Adult Concert Band and String Ensemble
Don’t just LISTEN to the music, PLAY!! Join our adult concert band or string ensemble and experience the joy of making instrumental music with others. Haven’t played your trumpet (flute, clarinet, violin, cello…) in 30 years? We have some members who came back to their instruments after 50 and 60 and even 70 years! Never played an instrument? We’ll help you figure out how to get started, get connected with a teacher, and in a few weeks sit in with our group. It is never too late; over half of our members started their instruments as adults! Our members range in age from 20-something to 90-something, and from beginner/novice to quite advanced in playing ability — all are welcome!Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music is an organization for all adults, no matter the skill level, who love music and want to be involved in playing music with others in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. For more information, visit our website, www.svnhm.org, or call Diane Muffitt, 978-261-5065. (New members please contact Diane before registering.) Season runs from 9/18/24 through 12/18/24. No rehearsal 10/2, 11/20 (moved to Monday 11/18 beginning at 7:30 pm), 11/27 and 12/11.CONCERT INFORMATION: 12/7 afternoon at L-S

Beyond the Money: Finding Purpose and Pleasure in Retirement
For some the prospect of retirement is a welcome change, for others it can bring uncertainty and even anxiety. “The Golden Years” can be a time of exploration and re-invention, but success is found not just in figuring out Medicare and managing your money, but by finding joy and meaning in your daily life. Without those critical elements, the golden years can quickly become tarnished. Whether you’re first thinking about retiring, have recently retired, or have been retired for some time, this class will help you find your way through the stages of this new, exciting, and sometimes challenging phase. From adjusting to a different daily routine, to finding vision and purpose, and discovering strategies for moving forward, we’ll discuss the tools, structure, and support you’ll need to make the most of your retirement years. The class will consist of one two-hour in-person seminar, and a one-hour follow-up session via Zoom set up privately with instructors.
