Badminton
Badminton is the most popular and fastest racquet sport! It’s a fast, fun and social game that can be played and enjoyed by people of all ages. If you have never played badminton before, you will quickly learn the basics and join other experienced players in 12 weeks of exciting games! If you are looking for a great way to have fun while getting in shape, this is the place to be! Bring your racquet and we will provide the birdies.

Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music: Adult Concert Band and String Ensemble
Winter/Spring 2025 Adult Concert Band & String Ensemble Don’t just LISTEN to the music, PLAY!! Join our adult concert band or string ensemble and experience the joy of making instrumental music with others. Haven’t played your trumpet (flute, clarinet, violin, cello…) in 30 years? We have some members who came back to their instruments after 50, 60 and even 70 years! Never played an instrument? We’ll help you figure out how to get started, get connected with a teacher, and in a few weeks sit in with our group. It is never too late; over half of our members started their instruments as adults! Our members range in age from 20-something to 90-something, and from beginner/novice to quite advanced in playing ability — all are welcome! No auditions required. Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music is an organization for all adults, no matter the skill level, who love music and want to be involved in playing music with others in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. Our Winter/Spring session for our band and string ensemble begins on January 8 , and continues through April 30, 2025. New members can join at any time. This class will include a brief overview of our working farm and how we process waste - you’ll leave feeling a confident composter!

Farm Table to Brunch Tour - Codman Community Farms
Featured Classes
For the most local brunch possible, come to the farm to collect your own eggs and veggies and then enjoy a delicious brunch prepared by Codman’s Chef Tilli. This is a combination walking tour of the farm, hayride to egg collection, vegetable harvest and finally brunch. We’ll start by harvesting veggies in our no-till market garden and then boarding a hay wagon to our laying hen pasture to collect freshly laid eggs. You’ll get hands-on experience and the chance to ask lots of questions and see how we produce our delicious food up close. Class includes all materials needed. Comfortable walking shoes and sun hats are encouraged.

Gropius House Tour

Walter Gropius, founder of the German design school known as the Bauhaus, was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. He designed this house in Lincoln as his family home in 1938, when he came to teach at Harvard's Graduate School of Design. Modest in scale, it combined the traditional elements of New England architecture with innovative materials rarely used in domestic settings at that time. Enjoy this one hour guided house tour where all the family possessions are still in place.

Sudbury's History Through the Ages - CELEBRATE 250!
Featured Classes
Join Sudbury History experts for an opportunity to learn about Sudbury's role in the history of the area, as we celebrate 250! Hosted by the non-profit Sudbury Historical Society (SHS). Learn about the initial settlement of Sudbury in 1638 by the British Colonists. This session is designed as an in-depth look at how Sudbury came to be established, and the broader context of how settling New England happened through the Puritan ethos of hardwork, piety, and community. The course will consist of a lecture, followed by the opportunity to visit the Sudbury Historical Society’s History Center and Museum and tour the Baggott Gallery’s exhibition on Sudbury’s History. (No discounts)

USCG: Boating Skills and Seamanship

This introductory course is for both sail and power boaters and includes instruction on safety afloat, legal responsibilities, aids to navigation, rules of the road, charts and compass, engines, knots, weather, boat handling, radio procedures, and navigation electronics. Completion certificate helps reduce boat insurance fees. Families are welcome. Children age 12 and older are encouraged to attend with a parent at a reduced rate. Course materials are $60 and are paid directly to the USCG in class.

USCG: Coastal Piloting
Featured Classes
Coastal Piloting, or the Weekend Navigation Seminar, is advanced instruction for those who have already completed a basic boating course. It covers aids to navigation, the earth and its coordinates, Mercator projection, piloting, correcting compass errors, dead reckoning, tides and currents, radio navigation and more. Course materials are $56 and are paid directly to the USCG in class.

Understanding Town History for the Big 250! Concord!

Concord will welcome thousands of visitors in April 2025 for the 250th anniversary of the Shot Heard 'Round the World. Maybe your out-of-town family or friends will want to come and be part of the fun. Be ready to answer their questions like a pro (Did Paul Revere raise the alarm in Concord? Who shot first? Is this the original bridge?). Concord public historian Victor Curran will offer a one-night summary of his Concord History Course to give you all the talking points you need to tell Concord's stories like a native from its first indigenous people to its famous writers and antislavery activists, with a special emphasis on the town's vital role on the first day of the American Revolution. This will include time to answer your questions.

Veterinary Pet Tips for Spring

In this timely and informative class, Dr. Kreidberg will review how to detect the signs of Tick Borne Diseases including Lyme disease as well as discuss other important warm weather infectious and zoonotic diseases. She will also discuss common household toxins, how to prevent Heat Stroke and recognize the early signs and basic response to emergencies. This class will address concerns for dogs and cats only and there will be ample time for questions.
