Genealogy 101: Researching Your Family History
Join us at the Sudbury History Center and Museum in town center for a workshop on tips and tricks for genealogical research! Have you ever wanted to get started on your family tree? Stuck on researching a specific ancestor? A professional archivist will guide this workshop with helpful hints and answer any research questions. We will review useful online resources for information finding and have brief tutorials on searching for public records on websites such as Ancestry and FamilySearch, as well as the new Sudbury Historical Society Collections Online. We will also discuss how to best leverage the free resources available to you nearby in local archives, libraries, and museums. Bringing a laptop to the session is highly recommended, but not necessary. If you have already started your genealogical journey, be sure to bring your notes to the workshop for a more personalized experience.

Music Appreciation
Private music lessons enable participants to grow musically at an individual pace, study advanced techniques on their instruments and begin to express themselves through improvisation. Lessons are given in 8-week sessions in your choice of format: in-person or online. Lessons take place after school, or weekday evenings. Before registering, please send us an email at adult.ed@lsrhs.net to determine the availability of the instructor. There is a $39 administrative fee per each 8-week session. A portion of the administrative fee will be donated to L-S Friends of Music. No Senior/Staff Discount. We offer private music lessons in: Cello, Clarinet, Drum set, Euphonium, Flute, Guitar, Marimba, Oboe, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Song Writing, String Bass, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola, Violin, Voice. The Winter session begins the week of January 6th. 1 $46 per 30 minute lesson for 8 weeks plus $39 admin fee = $407 $61 per 45 minute lesson for 8 weeks plus $39 admin fee = $527 $81 per 60 minute lesson for 8 weeks plus $39 admin fee = $687 For LSRHS students, currently enrolled in a choral or instrumental ensemble, LS Friends of Music may be able to offer you financial assistance for private music lessons. You will learn how to hire and find the right agent and be an advocate for yourself in the home buying process. Buying a home is likely to be one of the biggest investments you make in your lifetime, so it’s important to know what you’re getting into and how to prepare. The class will focus on the home buying process from beginning to end including your mortgage options, lawyer info and fees, the offer process and negotiating techniques, what you would expect to pay for closing costs, and what to look for at open houses.

You will learn how to hire and find the right agent, what’s necessary to fix or not fix before putting your house on the market, tips on home staging, how to price your home and different techniques to generate more interest and offers. Rise & Shine Yoga with Kelly
Be Active
Start your weekends off right with Rise & Shine Yoga. This one-hour class combines deep stretching, muscle strengthening, balance, and vinyasa flow. The class guides you through smooth, safe movements purposefully designed to loosen up those tight muscles, melt away stress, and rejuvenate your body. Participants do not need prior yoga experience. Please bring your own mat. Yoga blocks are highly recommended and will be provided. Available in person or by Google Meet.

Haven’t played your trumpet (flute, clarinet, violin, cello…) in 30 years? We have some members who came back to their instruments after 50 and 60 and even 70 years of not playing! Never played an instrument and have no clue what those little black marks are on the paper? We’ll help you figure out how to get started, get connected with a teacher, and in a few weeks, sit in with our group! Sudbury Valley New Horizons Band or Sudbury Valley New Horizons String Ensemble is your entrance to the world of instrumental music in a non-competitive and non-intimidating musical environment. Grown in several countries around the globe, the tea plant yields numerous varieties of teas, ranging from the commonly known black tea to the exotic white, yellow and pu-erh tea. Throughout history, the innocuous tea leaf has sparked world trade, united cultures and even started rebellions. In modern times, tea has become recognized for its health benefits and has become widely accepted as a symbol of peace and harmony. Nature Walks along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail with Neela de Zoysa Enjoy three guided walks along the newly opened Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in North Sudbury between Rt 117 and Rt 27. The trail traverses woods, streams and fields and provides an opportunity to see nature up close. The Davis Field walk will be from Davis Field to Pantry Road including a short exploration of the Davis Conservation area. The Broadacres walk will be Pantry Road to Broadacres. The Broadacres 2 walk will be Broadacres to Hudson Road.
