Ukrainian Egg Design: Let's Make Pysanky Combining Traditional & Drop-pull Methods
This workshop is a unique opportunity to explore two distinct methods of Pysanky artistry: the Traditional wax-resist method and the Drop-Pull technique. Participants will begin by learning the Traditional method, using a "kistka," beeswax, and vibrant dyes to create traditional designs. Then, you will explore the Drop-Pull method (Lemko-style), where molten wax is applied using a pin-head and pulled to form elegant patterns. This class is perfect for beginners and seasoned Pysanky enthusiasts alike. By the end of the class, you willhave two finished pysanky and a profound connection to this cherished art form.

Private Music Lessons - Winter
Music Appreciation
Private music lessons enable participants to grow musically at an individual pace, study advanced techniques on their instruments and begin to express themselves through improvisation. Lessons are given in 8-week sessions in your choice of format: in-person or online. Lessons take place after school, weekday evenings or Saturday mornings. Before registering, please send us an email at adult.ed@lsrhs.net to determine the availability of the instructor. There is a $30 administrative fee per 8-week session. A portion of the administrative fee will be donated to LS Friends of Music. No Senior/Staff Discount. We offer private music lessons in: Cello, Clarinet, Drum set, Euphonium, Flute, Guitar, Marimba, Oboe, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Song Writing, String Bass, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola, Violin, Voice. Pysanky Club: Explore Natural Dyes
Creative & Culinary Arts
This workshop offers an opportunity to learn the traditional art of Pysanky from a native Ukrainian while exploring the beauty of natural dyes. Using the wax-resist method with a "kistka," beeswax, and candle, participants will create intricate designs on real chicken eggs. You will experiment with natural dyes derived from spring flowers and berries and compare their muted, organic hues to vibrant aniline dyes. Perfect for both beginners and experienced Pysanky creators, this class combines tradition with a touch of nature’s artistry. Emptied and cleaned chicken eggs and an assortment of dyes will be provided. Children ages 6+ are welcome to attend when accompanied by an adult. . Minors must be registered with a registered parent/guardian.

Pysanky: Hanging Easter Egg Workshop

In this workshop, you will create your very own Pysanka in the Ukrainian, traditional wax-resist method. Using a combination of beeswax, the "kistka" tool, and vibrant color dyes, you will learn how to create designs on a real chicken egg. Plus, you'll have the option of turning your Pysanka into beautiful hanging decor for your house with instructions on how to add a variety of hangers to your egg.

Qigong and Tai Chi for Health

IN PERSON OR ZOOM: Tai chi and qigong have been called a “perfect exercise!” Based on Qi Gong, tai chi is an ancient Chinese mind-body practice that involves controlled breathing and movement exercises for the cultivation of your energy. It involves gently flowing strengthening and conditioning movements which increase flexibility, promote relaxation, and enhance health, strength, and balance. Qigong movements are then blended into a variety of tai chi forms. Come join in this wonderful 8-week exercise for body, mind, and spirit. All levels of experience and ability are welcome. Participants are requested to attend the first class in person; subsequent classes will be available on Zoom.

Residential Addition 101

If you have been thinking of adding on to your house, but don’t know where to start, this one night class is for you! Nancy will give an overview of the design and construction process for residential additions and renovations. The class will review zoning and septic issues, programming, budgeting, whether to “move or stay”, the architectural process, contractor selection, permitting and what to expect during construction. Time will be allowed for questions about your specific project.

SAT Advanced Bootcamp

The ADVANCED SAT class is intended for students who have previously scored at least 1300 on the SAT. During this eight-session online class, students will focus on the most challenging question types, the most difficult content areas, and the most important strategies for high-scoring students. This class will provide rigorous practice for the Reading/Writing and Math sections of the SAT. All students will receive Open Door Education's guides to the Reading/Writing and Math sections of the SAT, recordings of each class session, and access to two free practice tests.

SAT Bootcamp: Reading/Writing (10:00am - 12:00pm) The Reading and Writing section of the SAT tests students' ability to comprehend challenging texts, their knowledge of the rules of English grammar, and their ability to construct well-crafted arguments. In this three-day online class held during February or April break, students will learn smart, intuitive strategies that help them improve their accuracy while managing their time effectively. We will cover the full scope of question types in the Reading section of the SAT, and we will review all of the grammar rules that students need to know for test day. SAT Bootcamp: Math (1:00pm - 3:00pm) The SAT Math section covers a wide range of content, and students need to be prepared to answer questions from across the full spectrum of math they have learned. Students enrolling in this class will review the core content that they need to know, they will learn dynamic strategies that help them answer even the most difficult questions, and they will develop the ability to recognize common patterns in how the SAT attempts to create difficulty so that they are well-prepared for test day. Winter/Spring 2026 Adult Concert Band & String Ensemble Don’t just LISTEN to the music, PLAY!! Join our adult concert band or string ensemble and experience the joy of making instrumental music with others. Haven’t played your trumpet (flute, clarinet, violin, cello…) in 30 years? We have some members who came back to their instruments after 50, 60 and even 70 years! Never played an instrument? We’ll help you figure out how to get started, get connected with a teacher, and in a few weeks sit in with our group. It is never too late; over half of our members started their instruments as adults! Our members range in age from 20-something to 90-something, and from beginner/novice to quite advanced in playing ability — all are welcome! No auditions required. Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music is an organization for all adults, no matter the skill level, who love music and want to be involved in playing music with others in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. Our Winter/Spring session for our band and string ensemble begins on January 21, and continues through May 22, 2026. New members can join at any time. Come enjoy 6 weeks of tennis instruction. Tennis is one of the most beautiful sports. It requires body control, hand-eye coordination, quickness, flat out speed, endurance, and that strange mix of caution and courageous abandon. Please bring your racquet, wear comfortable running/tennis shoes, and bring your own water. In case of rain, another day will be added. The benefits of tennis include a fantastic workout and complete release from stress. Tennis stretches your intellectual capacity and imagination while strengthening your bones and muscles. We offer one class for kids ages 8+ and two classes for adults, "Beginner" and "Intermediate/Advanced".

USCG: America's Boating

This introductory course is for both sail and power boaters and includes instruction on safety afloat, legal responsibilities, aids to navigation, rules of the road, charts and compass, engines, knots, weather, boat handling, radio procedures, and navigation electronics. Completion certificate helps reduce boat insurance fees. Families are welcome. Children age 12 and older are encouraged to attend with a parent at a reduced rate. Course materials are $60 and are paid directly to the USCG in class.
