Powell Flutes Boston has been handcrafting the world's finest flutes since 1927. Starting in Boston, then Arlington, and Woburn, and finally making its way to Maynard in the 90s, Powell Flutes has made thousands of stunning instruments of silver, gold, and even platinum. This tour gives participants the history of American flute making followed by a walkthrough of the production facility showcasing how simple tubes of metal turn into stunning works of visual and, of course, musical art.
Flute playing participants can also try a few instruments at the discretion of the company.
Powell Flutes is located in Maynard, 3 Mill & Main Place, Suite 130.
Participants must wear closed-toed shoes. This tour is best suited for adults though interested people of all ages are welcome. All minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Hilary Abigana has been playing the flute for over 35 years, playing on her Powell flute for 25 years, and became a Powell Artist in 2017 before joining the company as Direct Sales Manager in 2024. Alongside her performing career, she has a wealth of knowledge of the manufacturing process at Powell as well as all the different customizations a flutist can request.
