Zendalas "Zentangle® in the Round"

Creative & Culinary Arts -
Spring 2024

Expand techniques learned in a basic Zentangle class to a more intricate, round format. Learn how to create “strings” that sing, add color, increase depth and energy in your compositions. We’ll use a Zentangle tool, the Markus Operandus for composition, gel pens and alcohol markers for color, and chalk pastels and graphite for shading. Take the process farther, or stay close to the basics, it is up to you. Relax, focus, trust your creativity and have fun. All sessions are recorded for later viewing, you do not need to be present at the live session to participate.

Susan McFarlane

Susan is originally from Massachusetts. After graduating from High School she went west earning a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Brigham Young University. Her education continued with a Post Baccalaureate Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and a Museum Studies Master’s Degree from Harvard. While working as a graphic designer, she often needed illustrations for a project and completed them herself experimenting with a number of techniques. Continuing her love of learning, she became a Certified Zentangle® Teacher in 2019 and began virtual classes in 2020. Moves with her family have taken her to Oregon, Virginia, New Jersey back to Massachusetts, and most recently to Utah. She has shown her work wherever she has lived, combining observations of each place into her work.
