Sudbury's History Through the Ages - CELEBRATE 250!
Join Sudbury History experts for an opportunity to learn about Sudbury's role in the history of the area, as we celebrate 250!Hosted by the non-profit Sudbury Historical Society (SHS). Learn about the initial settlement of Sudbury in 1638 by the British Colonists. This session is designed as an in-depth look at how Sudbury came to be established, and the broader context of how settling New England happened through the Puritan ethos of hardwork, piety, and community. The course will consist of a lecture, followed by the opportunity to visit the Sudbury Historical Society’s History Center and Museum and tour the Baggott Gallery’s exhibition on Sudbury’s History. Come learn about the core essentials of estate planning and why everyone over the age of 18 needs these protective documents to prevent risks of court and conflict. We will review what probate looks like, when estate taxes are paid - and how much, the requirements of guardianship for children - not just long term but short term, as well as discuss the "incapacity documents" such as health care directives and powers of attorney. Students will learn what a Will does, what a Trust does, the significance of how assets are titled, and what to look for when working with an estate planning attorney - and we will have fun learning it all!
